Water Treatment Facility

On March 26, 2019, the Common Council of the City of Wausau approved the construction of a new water treatment plant at 700 Bugbee Avenue to replace the existing water treatment plant currently located at 1701 North River Drive.

Relocation of the water treatment plant will provide additional space to better accommodate above ground water storage and allow room for expansion of facilities to meet future regulations as needed.

On January 8, 2019, a presentation related to the proposed relocation of the water treatment plant was given to the Wausau Water Works Commission and public involvement meetings were held on February 18, 2019 and March 6, 2019.  The power point presentations can be viewed by clicking the following links:

Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Each year the City of Wausau contracts to complete a sewer rehabilitation project.  The rehabilitation of existing sewers takes place by the installation of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP).  A CIPP is formed by the inversion of a resin-impregnated flexible felt tube into the existing pipe.  The tube is expanded with air or water in an inversion process to fit against the original conduit, and then heated to cure the resin.  The finished product is a jointless structural pipe that is formed to the existing pipe.  This project takes place on numerous streets throughout the City.  The following maps show which streets this work will take place on in 2019:
