Cadet Shoulder PatchThe Wausau Police Public Safety Cadets #1274 is an agency program which is sponsored and operated by the Wausau Police Department.  Members attend two post meetings each month where they have an opportunity to learn about what a career in law enforcement is really like.  This is done through hands-on training and lecture based on courses in a wide variety of topics.  Topics include but are not limited to; firearms safety and training, defense and arrests tactics, OWI investigation, disturbance response, bomb threat response, first aid, hostage negotiation, traffic enforcement and the list goes on and on.  We are also lucky to have a great partnership with the Wausau Fire Department Explorer Post, and conduct joint training exercises with the fire explorers several times a year.

The cadets are also very active in the community, helping volunteer in several city events such as the balloon rally, various 5K events, Holiday Heroes and more.
