The Wausau Police Explorer Post #0442 is a Learning-for-Life post which is sponsored and operated by the Wausau Police Department.  Members attend two post meetings each month where they have an opportunity to learn about what a career in law enforcement is really like.  This is done through hands-on training and lecture based on courses in a wide variety of topics.  Topics include but are not limited to; firearms safety and training, defense and arrests tactics, OWI investigation, disturbance response, bomb threat response, first aid, hostage negotiation, traffic enforcement and the list goes on and on.  We are also lucky to have a great partnership with the Wausau Fire Department Explorer Post, and conduct joint training exercises with the fire explorers several times a year.

The explorer post is also very active in the community, helping volunteers in several city events such as the balloon rally, various 5K events, Holiday Heroes and more.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Anyone between the ages of 14-20 years old is eligible to join.  Membership is open to youth from anywhere as long as they are able to attend meetings.

WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS?

Explorers meet on the 2nd and 3rd Thursday of every month from 7pm-9pm, but are subject to change on occasion.
