Outdoor Ice Rinks

Update February 14, 2017:
Due to unseasonably warm weather and deteriorating ice conditions, the outdoor ice rinks and warming houses located at the 400 Block, Marathon Park outdoor rink and at Riverview School will close temporarily until further notice.  The outdoor rinks will remain closed until colder temperatures arrive to the region. The Park Department asks that the public stay off of the rinks for safety.

Weather permitting, the following ice rinks will operate for the 2016-2017 winter season:

  • Riverview School, 4303 E. Troy St – Recreation rink with a warming house.  There will not be a hockey rink this winter at Riverview School.
  • Marathon Park, 1201 Stewart Avenue- Recreation rink and hockey rink with a warming house.  There will be the annual pond hockey tournament held again this season at Marathon Park.
  • 400 Block, downtown Wausau - Recreation rink with a warming house

All rinks have lights that are on timers for night skating.  Any time the combined air and wind temperature falls to -20 degrees or colder, all rinks will close.
