Outdoor Ice Rinks

Update February 22, 2016:

The 400 Block ice rink and the Marathon Park outdoor ice rink are closed immediately for the season due to the warm temperatures and rain last weekend.  Park officials evaluated the rinks this morning and determined the rinks had deteriorated too far to allow for them to be rebuilt.  All other ice rinks were not built this season due to the early warm temperatures, so at this time all outdoor ice rinks are closed for the season.

There will not be a hockey rink or recreational rink built at Brockmeyer Park this winter.  The warming house will be setup at Marathon Park where there will be a recreational rink.  A Pond Hockey tournament was held the weekend of January 15-17, 2016 at Marathon Park.

Regular Season Hours at Brockmeyer, John Marshall and Riverview Rinks are 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sundays
400 Block Ice Rink Warming House Hours - 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sundays

All rinks, except Brockmeyer Hockey, have lights for night skating and there are warming houses at all rinks except John Marshall School. Any time the combined air and wind temperature falls to -20 degrees or colder, all rinks will close.

The locations of the City of Wausau outdoor ice rinks are:

  • 400 Block, downtown Wausau - recreational rink with a warming house
  • Brockmeyer Park, 4300 Stettin Drive – recreational rink and hockey rink with a warming house
  • John Marshall School, 1918 Lamont St – recreational rink only and no warming house
  • Riverview School, 4303 E. Troy St – recreational and hockey rink with a warming house
