  • Kiwanis free swim day at three outdoor pools ONLY ages 17 and younger from 1 to 6 PM on July 13 (rain date 20)
  •  Optimists Free Swim for Youth Week July 25-29 outdoor pools and Splash pad ages 17 and younger 1-6PM daily
  • Library Day, Aug 9 1 to 6 PM free entry all pools with Library card or summer reading program card.   Free craft for kids at Memorial pool from 1 to 3 PM

Parents with nonswimming children were encouraged to ask pool staff for lifejackets for their children to wear while they are at the pool.

2011 Pool Fees:

Daily Open Swim    (There is open swim on Monday, July 4, 2011, but no swim lessons in the morning)

  • $1.00 - 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • $0.50 - 6:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.

Season Passes (Available to City of Wausau residents only)

  • $20 - Youth and Adult
  • $50 - Family

FREE Swim Wednesdays from 6 - 7:50 p.m. all 3 pools; no minimum age; everyone welcome!
There is no minimum age limit. Infants & toddlers who aren't toilet trained must wear swim diapers.

American Red Cross Swim Lessons

Registration for swim lessons begins May 1 for City of Wausau residents and for non-residents.  Registration is open until classes fill. The Red Cross has instituted new levels of swim lessons for children ages 18 months to five years. We will be offering  Pre-School Aquatics for ages 4 and 5 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Parent-Child Aquatics (adults must accompany their child in the water) for ages 18 months to 3 years on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Lesson times and locations vary by level.  Call Park Office for details.

Parent-Child (18 mo to ages 4 yrs) Introduces basic skills to parents and children. Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water, including how to hold, support, encourage, and evaluate their child. Children are introduced to basic skills. Class is taught Tuesdays and Thursday of each session
 
Pre-School Aquatics (ages 4 & 5) Introduces and builds upon basic skills including water entry/exit, breath control, supported floating on front and back, glides, alternate arms and legs movement on front and back, life jacket use and safety around water. Class is taught Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of each session.
 
Small-fry, (formerly Goldfish 5 & 6) Red Cross Level 1. Child must be at least 5 years of age to take this class. No prior swimming experience is necessary.
 
Gold Fish, Red Cross Level 2. Child must have passed Level 1 or be able to demonstrate the following skills on the first day of class: Safe entry from the side or stairs, blow bubbles, front and back float with support, alternating arm and leg motion with support and roll from front to back and back to front with support. Recover to standing from front or back float with support.
 
Bluegill A, Red Cross Level 3 (first half). Child must have passed Red Cross-Level 2. Class covers stroke development, water safety, and seated and kneeling head-first water entry.
 
Bluegill B, Red Cross Level 3. Child must have passed Red Cross Levels 1 and 2 and the skills required in Bluegill A. Class covers advanced strove development, deep water bobbing, and advanced water safety.
 
Porpoise, Red Cross Level 4. Student must have passed Red Cross Levels 1, 2, and 3. Class covers deep water safety, advanced stroke development, advanced deep water survival skills, and surface dives.
 
Dolphin, Red Cross Level 5. Students must complete levels 1- 4 prior to this class. Class covers stroke refinement while building endurance.
 
 
 

Scuba Lessons (Klein Scuba)  Update June 10:  The 2011 lessons are cancelled due to lack of signups.

Memorial Pool Private Parties

Memorial Pool is available to rent for private parties Saturday and Sunday mornings 8 to 11 am or evenings from 8:00 to 11 pm, June 18 through August 14, 2011. Reservations must be made at the Park Office, 212 River Drive, Suite #2. You must be 18 years of age, to rent the pool.
